Florida Winter Tour: Round 2 Race Day
Today once again started with warm up in the morning. During warm up I noticed a continued loss of power. I experienced similar problems in yesterdays final race. As a result my times were not where we needed them to be in order to go forward in the pre final.
For the pre final we made as many changes as we could to improve any issues with my engine. Unfortunately we could not change the engine itself as there was none left to spare. I started the pre final extemely well and was running well inside the top ten and was with the leading pack. Once again my engine started to lose power just as in warm up. As the race went on the engine got worse. Sure enough I started to lose postitions and by the end of the race I had gone from inside the top ten to finish a poor 29th.
Where I finished in the pre final is where I had to start for the final. Once again we did our best to try and eliminate as many things as we could to try and fix the engine issue. When I left the gate to start the final race I noticed that I still had a serious lack of power. When the lights went green to begin the race I had a great start around the outside. Unfortunately by mid first lap I had already lost many positions due to my continued lack of power. I was forced to retire without completing a lap of the final.
Overall it was a very dissapointing weekend and we did not achieve the result we wanted due to mechanical issues and racing incidents. I suppose it was just one of the weekends!
Now I have round 1 of the Pro Tour coming up in a few weeks in Melbourne and I am hoping to keep my lead in the National Ranking points for Australia.
Thank you to all my sponsors and friends for all your support.
James.
